A Vintage Romantic Holiday Tablescape

When I plan my holiday tables, I often lean toward the non-traditional. Hues of deep purple and copper can say fall, Christmas and winter to me as much as more traditional colors. This year I decided to create a holiday tablescape using tones that look beautiful in any season.  The result is a romantic and slightly vintage holiday table that is beautiful for any celebration.

Because I live in a warmer climate, I love to bring indoor dining outside.  I often use my dining room chairs and other indoor furniture to create a beautiful table setting outdoors.

The inspiration for this holiday table setting came from the beautiful blooms I found at my local flower market. I adore the rich tones of the purple and blue antique hydrangea alongside the softer pinks of winter roses.  Mix in some dark centered anemone and the soft green tones of eucalyptus and I found a winning combination for my vintage inspired holiday centerpiece.

I draped my table with an indigo colored, pintuck satin tablecloth and placed three flower arrangements down the center of the table.  I purposely used three different, mercury glass containers for my flower arrangements to add that eclectic, romantic look I wanted.

The mercury glass not only gave the arrangements a vintage look, but also set the stage for the addition of some other metallic elements.

I placed my favorite mercury glass pumpkins alongside the centerpieces and brought in a few copper candlesticks with smoky blue taper candles to pull in the colors of the hydrangea. I love these pumpkins because they look equally beautiful on a Thanksgiving or holiday tablescape.

For my place settings, I started with copper colored chargers.  I love the contrast of the rich warm color on top of the indigo tablecloth.  I placed my metallic and dark banded china on top of the charger and tucked a dark blue napkin between the dinner and salad plate.

I also dusted off my favorite wine glasses with the dark banded edge to add a bit of sparkle to the overall look.  And finally, the indigo blue, glass votive holders (a dollar store find!) added the final glow I was looking for on this romantic holiday table.
